Yesterday, people from all around the world gathered in restaurants and bars wearing fancy spring hats as they watched the royal wedding on TV. Two billion people watched the Kate and William exchange vows on live television while over one million showed up in person to see the couple circle the area in a coach and then have their famous balcony kiss. Children were just as excited over the royal wedding as adults, and many schools held fancy hat day or royal wedding celebrations. Oprah Winfrey and her audience also put on their very best spring hats as they joined in the worldwide celebration of William and Kate's royal wedding day.
There were 1,900 guests that were invited to the royal wedding. Oprah talked to a few of the guests as well as several of her royal correspondents who gave their take on royal wedding day events. Here is a video clip featuring the highlights of the Royal Wedding Ceremony. Kate and William both looked gorgeous and I'm sure you will notice the many different spring hats that the guests are wearing. (Email subscribers can click here to view the video).
Rob Lowe looked as sexy as ever during his April 28, 2011 Oprah Winfrey Show appearance. The 46-year-old celebrity may have a sordid past but he has put his life back together and has a beautiful wife Sheryl and two fantastic teenage boys. Rob Lowe spends a few days a week surfing and enjoys spending time with his family. He decided to go to rehab 20 years ago and has remained sober ever since. He has been married to his wife Sheryl for the past 20 years and says he is still in love with his wife and that she is his very best friend.
The talented actor wants to remain young in spirit as he works on his acting and writing career. Rob Lowe wrote every word of his new book, and Oprah was a bit suprised at Lowe's writing talent. It turns out that Rob Lowe's mother was a writer and she passed on the love of literature to her son. Rob Lowe's sons joked that they all read the same book at the same time, like some sort of nerdy family book club.
Rob Lowe talks about the details of his wild youthful lifestyle and time spent as one of the "Brat Pack" in his new book Stories I Only Tell My Friends: An Autobiography. Oprah Winfrey loved the book and I'm sure that Rob Lowe (or Brat Pack) fans will love the book too. The book reveals information on his relationships with Demi Moore, Charlie Sheen, Martin Sheen, Emelio Estevez and many more top celebrities. During today's Rob Lowe interview Oprah shared a video clip of the "Brat Pack" auditioning for acting roles in the hit movie "The Outsiders." Rob Lowe was one of the lucky actors who was chosen for a key acting role in the movie. Here's a video clip of "The Outsiders" auditions. (Email subscribers can click here to view the video.)
Celebrity health and fitness guru Bob Greene appeared on today's Oprah Winfrey Show. Oprah only has 19 more shows to go before The Oprah Winfrey Show finale! I'm a big fan of Bob Greene so I was excited to find out about his brand new book 20 Years Younger: Look Younger, Feel Younger, Be Younger! I already have two of Bob Greene's books and I plan on purchasing a copy of 20 Years Younger as well.
Oprah selected 20 of The Oprah Show Ultimate Viewers and had them take a two month long 20 Years Younger Challenge. The women were taught how to work out and eat well by Bob Greene. They also took steps to improve the appearance of their skin with Lancer Skin Care Products.
The 20 Years younger plan is based on a combination of excercise, nutrition, proper sleep and a good skin care regimen. The women who took the two month challenge lost weight, lowered their cholestorel and felt great overall. One woman lost 27 pounds in two months and there was no starvation diet involved. Whether you want to look and feel younger or you want to get healthy, the unique 20 Years Younger plan can help you to achieve your goals.
On April 15, 2011 The Oprah Winfrey Show featured “Clayton’s Survival Story.” Clayton is now 19-years-old and appeared on the Oprah Show with his Aunt and the Sheriff that rescued him as a boy.
Clayton's Childhood Torture and Neglect
Clayton’s biological mother dropped him off at his biological father’s house one day, where he would end up facing horrendous treatment. When Clayton was only 6-years-old he faced horrible neglect, torure and abuse at the hands of his father and stepmother. He was not allowed to have friends and was frequently locked away from the world. The abusive couple kept Clayton chained up in a tiny, dark bathroom closet. Clayton was tied up with wire fencing and bound by chains. The young boy was forced to stand for up to 24 hours at a time, even while he slept. He was barely fed and the chains cut and scarred his chest and neck.
When Clayton would try to call for help the couple would punish him by pouring dish soap into his mouth and he was not allowed to rinse the soap out. When he was out of the closet he would search for something to eat and resorted to eating paper bags that he found on the floor. When the couple did feed Clayton they would turn the event into a form of torture as well.
The Events Leading Up To Clayton's Rescue
Clayton’s teenage stepsister was kind to him when the parents were not at home. After running away from home at the age of 14 and getting in trouble with the law, she told the police what her parents were doing to Clayton. Sheriff Todd Pate immediately alerted Indiana police, but after a social worker investigated the home they decided things were fine. Sheriff Pate was haunted by the gruesome details that Clayton’s sister had revealed, and could not forget about the boy. The sheriff came up with a plan to uncover the truth and told Clayton’s father and stepmother that they needed to travel to Kentucky before he could release their teenage daughter. The couple showed up with Clayton, who looked tired and sick and showed obvious signs of abuse and neglect. Clayton’s father and stepmother pled guilty to criminal confinement, battery and neglect and they both served around two years in prison.
Sheriff Tate and Clayton Reunite
Throughout the years Sheriff Pate kept the note that Clayton wrote after his rescue. The small note read, “Dear Todd: You are nice. From Clayton.” The Sheriff showed the now teenage Clayton the note during their reunion on the Oprah Show stage. Clayton never forgot about the nice Sheriff who saved his life. He became a role model to the young boy who now dreams of one day becoming a police officer.(Read more about the Oprah Show Episode). The following Oprah Show video clip features Clayton and the Aunt who has been began raising Clayton sometime after his rescue.
