Not much has been known about "Wanda Barzee," the woman married to "Brian David Mitchell" who kidnapped teenager Elizabeth Smart.
After Elizabeth Smart was found with the married couple much of the kidnapping blame was put on Brian David Mitchell with Wanda Barzee receiving much less attention for her role as "accomplice."
Wanda Barzee Portrayed As "Victim" After Kidnapping Arrest
The media has portrayed Wanda Barzee as a victim of her husband and she only received a 15 year sentence for her involvement in the kidnapping of Elizabeth Smart.
But several of Wanda Barzee's children say that their mother has a history of abusive behavior that goes back long before she even met second husband "Brian David Mitchell."
Daughter Says Her Mother Is a "Monster"
Four of Wanda Barzee's six children appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show to share their childhood horror story. Part of the reason that Wanda Barzee's children have gone public is because they believe that their mother is getting off too easy, and one of Barzee's daughters wants to expose her mother for the "monster" she truly is.
