According to top online news site "Huffington Post" Oprah's Favorite Things show will not be happening this Christmas. Unfortunately for fans Oprah has no plans to do a "favorite things" show this year.
Oprah does have her favorite things of past years listed on her website, and I'm sure they are still all of her favorites. I don't know the real reason for Oprah's choice not to do the "favorite things" show this year but my guess is that she doesn't want to put too much emphasis on "things" during a recession.
Oprah may be a billionaire but she realizes that many of her viewers are struggling through some rough financial times. In 2008 Oprah aired a "favorite things" show and added thrifty homemade gift ideas. Even though she focused on thrifty giving there was still some criticism of the "shopping" oriented show during an economic recession.
Recession or no recession I personally love Oprah Winfrey's "favorite things" shows. It's fun to see what Oprah chooses as the most luxurious or handy items, and it's also fun to watch the Oprah audience go nuts when they receive their free gifts!
