On Friday October 30, 2009 Patrick's Swayze's widow Lisa Niemi appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show. Lisa Niemi and Patrick Swayze's marriage is one of the most beautiful "real life" love stories I've ever heard of.
Patrick Swayze met Lisa Niemi when he was 20-years-old and Lisa was only 16. Lisa had gone for dance lessons at the studio that Swayze's mother owned and where he studied dance. The young dancers were both instantly attracted to one another and would stay together for the next 38 years, 34 of which they were married.
The couple referred to one another as "soul mates." Lisa Niemi and Patrick Swayze filmed one movie together called "One Last Dance."
The couples love was evident when they performed together.
Here's a beautiful video clip of Patrick Swayze and wife Lisa Niemi dancing together at the 1994 "World Music Awards:"
Patrick Swayze died of Pancreatic Cancer on September, 14, 2009 at the age of 57, his wife Lisa was by his side. She recently spoke at "The Women's Conference 2009" about the loss of her husband Patrick and how his death affected her on a "cellular" level.
Here is a clip from Friday October 30, 2009 Oprah Winfrey Show "Remembering Patrick Swayze:"
Patrick Swayze and Lisa Niemi wrote the book "The Time of My Life" together after Patrick was diagnosed with cancer. The book takes a look at Patrick Swayze's childhood, and Lisa and Patrick's past together, including how they felt about the "Dirty Dancing" movie.
Patrick Swayze was a brilliant dancer, actor, singer, and songwriter. But after his death people are most fascinated by the love he had for his wife Lisa. Patrick wrote the love song "She's Like The Wind" for his wife. The song was a huge hit and featured in the movie "Dirty Dancing."
