Like so many of Michael Jackson's fans I was shocked and saddened to hear of his sudden death at the age of 50.
Oprah Winfrey interviewed Michael Jackson at the Neverland Ranch in 1993, the in depth interview was an extremely rare one as Jackson was a very private person.
In the hour long interview Michael Jackson let the world look inside his home at the Neverland Ranch which includes a backyard amusement park. The star talks about his childhood, his love for helping sick and needy children, and his amazing connection with music.
Here are Parts 1, 2, and 3 of the 7 Part Oprah Winfrey/Michael Jackson Interview. You can continue watching the hour long interview here on Everything Oprah.

This is a sad thing that before Oprah came back from vacation we could watch this video, and those who think like Oprah, could download it and eventually try to capitalize on it. I have never got to see this interview in its entirety because like a lot of other Michael Jackson fans I was working, 11:00 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. I did not own a VCR and still do not even have a DVR. But I know someone will try to capitalize on it and it will be on the internet once again. I just hope for all due respect sakes it will not be Oprah. I would loose a lot of my respect for her to think she could pull such a demeaning stunt to benefit herself at the expense of our beloved "MICHAEL". Well maybe she is thinking of it and plans on donating the profits to one of Michael's charities that he so openenly gave to. Now if she is not letting it be viewed anymore because someone might do as I mentioned above, I should only hope it is out respect for Michael and not that she might lose out on a dollar. Nothing against Oprah, I just think she has made her money on other peoples lives and deaths.

Hi Melinda,
I don't understand why you think it's wrong for people to watch the interview on the Internet. This is one of the best interviews I've ever seen and I'm a huge Michael Jackson fan. Sharing information is not "capitalization."
The interview makes Michael Jackson look good, not bad, I think he'd be happy with his fans watching it.
You lost me on this one.

My aunt appreciated the interview. It gave her a sense of the Michael Jackson which the tabloids attempted to burn; the good natured, shy, mannerly, sweet, funny, amazingly spiritual, and forgiving Michael. This is the Michael most of the world never knew or tried to know of until now!

I really don´t understand why this interview is blocked from viewing at this moment in time, after Michael Jackson died. Millions of people are watching all the stuff that´s out there on the internet, including Bashir´s disgusting ´interview´ Living with Michael Jackson and other clips that make Michael look bad, and this one interview that showed Michael like he truely was, is not viewable. I watched the interview back in ´93 and now I am very sorry I didn´t record it. Not to benefit from it in any material way, but for bringing back the good memories about him. I hope this interview will be re-released on the internet very soon and that this will not turn out to be a money-matter. That would really be repulsive.

My heart has been heavy all day!!! Michael and his brothers really have played a large role in opening doors for other artists of colr in many ares of entertainment. That being said ha sOprah Winfrey said ANYTHINg? or possibly contacted the family?? He is beingnourned everywhere..being on vacation is no excuse.

Hi Bri,
I agree with your aunt, I thought that the Oprah interview showed Michael Jackson's shyness and sensitivity. His talent and kindness blew me away.
Hi Helen,
The video is blocked because of Harpo Studios copyright. Most of Oprah's videos are blocked. I'm so disappointed that Oprah is not letting viewers see this video on her website or selling it her Oprah store. As a fan I would even pay for the video if I had to, but it would be nice for her to share it with Michael's fans for free.
Hi Ashley,
I'm with you, it's been a sad day. I haven't heard anything about Oprah saying anything about Michael Jackson's death or going to the memorial service today.
If she doesn't at least release a public statement acknowledging Michael Jackson's death I'll be really disappointed. Maybe she'll dedicate a section of O Magazine to Michael next month. If Oprah says anything about Michael Jackson I'll be posting it here on the website.

Thanks, I'll keep check.

I find it extremely odd that Ms. Winfrey has not issued forth ANY comment or expression of condolences at all upon the death of Michael Jackson. I can imagine perhaps she sent a private note to the family as these things are truly personal and intimate, but given how much Michael Jackson contributed to the "door openings" of so many artists of color (Oprah included), it seems the least she could/would do is make a comment of acknowledgment. It's just so strange....nothing at all. It's almost like in Oprah's world nothing whatsoever happened with Michael Jackson. And she wasn't there or a part of the Memorial? Why? or Why not? Curious...

I am VERY upset at Oprah for her silence on Michael Jackson. It speaks VOLUMES. If President Obama, Former Pres. Nelson Mandela, Elizabeth Taylor, Liza Minelli, Diana Ross, Quincy Jones, and on and on and on... can make the TIME and offer their PUBLIC condolences either in person or by formal letter (during the Memorial Service) to the family, friends, and fans of Michael.. then why hasn't she? Those very people listed are people even SHE highly respects. MJ literally changed the world and broke down many cultural barriers- allowing people like HER (and ME-of color) to be on a talk show in the first place. I find her silence cruel. I love Oprah to death, but the more I ask various people (of the black community) what they think about her silence, I have been told (mainly by black women) that they feel betrayed, disappointed, and think that she is doing this because she still believes that he really was a child molester- even though he was proven innocent by 12 jurors. That case was a joke. There never was any actual evidence. It was all based on hearsay. I think MJ was a constant target for financial blackmail, and was too (emotionally speaking) child-like and naive to understand or believe that he was putting himself in a very bad situation by always trying to personally involve himself in various children's problems (terminally ill, mentally challenged, disabled, etc.), and surrounding himself with all kinds of people he didn't know that well. Never did a child initiate accusing him of anything or wanted to testify against him; it always seemed like an adult relative of that child was the one pursuing fame and a financial windfall; because if someone ever ACTUALLY molested one of MY children- you couldn't pay me enough money to not want to see justice done and that person go to prison! Michael was a victim of greed, and Oprah has become the opposite of everything she ever preached: "Live your best life", "Let the courts decide someone's innocence". She must have forgotten how it felt to be accused of something and have to go to trial not only in court, but also in public... remember the Beef industry lawsuit? She was soooo stressed and upset and hurt at the accusations. Oprah, you have really let us down. We have supported you through everything, and now you can't even acknowledge the actual pain and real tears of millions of people who are mourning the loss of an amazing human being that brought people from all over the world together through his music and charitable works- by the way, more charitable than yours. He is listed in the Guiness Book of World Records for the most money given/raised and most charities supported by a single celebrity... hmmm.

It's a shame that the wealthy are so greedy, so scared of missing out on a few dollars. They never blocked Living With Michael Jackson or anything else that makes him look bad. Why don't they show this interview or his home videos (they're really funny) of MJ instead of the one with Martin Bashir on T.V.? Please someone post the answer to my question.

Q: When Oprah asked Michael if he was a virgin what was his answer?
Please someone put this video up again I NEED TO SEE IT!

To the Oprah and michael jackson fans,
We need to write to Oprah and tell how we feel that she has not mentioned Michael Jackson at all, and that we are disappointed, I think that if we send her about 50 or more letters or emails, I think she will respond. Look Michael died on June 25th, it is now July 18th, it's been too long. It's time we speak! If she is a Christian, and can forgive or at least tell an innocent person from a guilty one then she should know whether or not Michael or would or wouldn't harm a child.

Why has Oprah been so quiet on Michaels' passing??
Posted by: pedro | July 19, 2009 at 01:40 AM
Oprah said it herself... during interview with Lisa Marie Presley "...if someone like Michael Jackson calls you (on the phone), you'd at least call back!". Now that Michael is gone, and Oprah is silent, I think that's rude. If someone like Michael Jackson dies, you (Oprah) MUST AT LEAST ACKNOWLEDGE!!!!

I just can't believe Oprah has not released any statement at all regarding Michael Jackson’s passing, now almost a month later. I have always been a fan of hers, but I am at a loss as to why she would have absolutely nothing to say. She wouldn’t be where she is without him. Even if she did believe him to be a pedophile (which blows my mind since she of all people should know how the media distorts the truth, and especially since there was absolutely no evidence in either case) I still can’t believe she did not even publicly send condolences to his children or family. If Nelson Mandela can publicly acknowledge Michael, and Maya Angelou, her idol, can write an entire beautiful poem about Michael, then Oprah could have, at the very least, released a short statement, if only for his children or the fans. I’m extremely disappointed in her silence. I'm also very upset that Harpo has taken down all the interviews. That's just lame.

I totally agree with you, Gigi!
We should all write to Oprah, b/c this is HIGHLY dissapointing. Oprah has lost all my respect with this move.
EVEN IF SHE IS 100% sure that MJ was a pedophile, she could have at least publically sent her condolences to his family. It's like she doesn't even care!

To Oprah and her staff:
Is it not a decent thing to do, to release a statement and acknowledge the passing of the world's greatest entertainer, Michael Jackson whom you interviewed in 1993?! Oprah, with your show, and all your media outfits you are a household word in the US. If you liked MJ or if you didn't is besides the point. Not a word of sympathy, I wonder why! I am sure you know The Footage You Were Never Meant to See or The Untold Story of Neverland by Larry Nimmer, filmmaker of the Jackson defense team. Michael was our brightest star blown out like a candle in the wind. He left a world which is too jealous, too mean, too destructive, too false. Michael, I wished you had more strength to do your battle. RIP Michael Jackson.

This is my second post. I have no idea what happened to the first one.
I expressed my wonderment that neither Oprah nor her staff saw fit to give one word of sympathy
regarding Michael Jackson's passing. It is besides the point if Oprah
likes or dislikes MJ since her word carries so much weight in the US, I mean
her name is a household word. I am sure Oprah knows "The Footage You Were
Never Meant to See" and is also familiar with "The Untold Story of
Neverland" by filmmaker of the MJ defense team Larry Nimmer. The verdict was NOT GUILTY! This means NOT GUILTY!
And yet Oprah has remained silent! Michael Jackson was the brightest star of
our times, blown out like a candle in the wind, leaving a world which was
too jealous, too mean, too false. I just wished he would have battled some
more, and people would have helped him some more. Michael Jackson forever!!!

Oprah Winfrey has announced that she will be airing a Michael Jackson tribute show on Wednesday September 16, 2009. You can find out more about what Oprah said about Michael Jackson here:

This is an open letter to Oprah
Dear Oprah
In your quest for having the courage and strength to be a spokesperson on so many issues that have effected the lives of everyone, I want to say "thank you". You are an African American woman who has fought a lot of barriers, and also came under the prying eyes of the public. There were many moments that involved your personal life, and professional life that the public has side eyed you but you kept going, and most "thinking" people did choose to believe in you. Even when you had your court battles, and nasty rumors about your boyfriend and your best friend you had the opportunity to air your point of view, and you kept going. No you cannot please all of the people all of the time, not even most as the saying goes. However, your public disgust when Michael Jackson was living, and your fierce determination not to let the court decision of
"not guilty" pursue you to maybe rethink your position, you remained silent. You held onto your belief what the "media" portrayed him to be. Shame on you! This guy was truly what is now noted as "gifted". Look up the definition and try to understand what gifted people do and how they act. On top of this he was talented beyond any measure of standard. Gifted people see the world and suffering and try to make a difference. They also, do not trust adults because they are hypocritical, Will cry at sad events in their lives, and when abuse or tragedy enters their lives early on.. they get stuck at that age, unable to be "grown up". They can stay stuck there and most non-gifted folks always ask "whats wrong with him/her"? That is not acceptable behavior etc.. and on and on and on..
I did wonder if what they had said was true, but I know how the "media" builds people up and tears then down when they become powerful.. and yes Michael Jackson was powerful Maybe your circle of friends did not see it but so what. You march to your own beat.. right???? Now, Michael Jackson lived his short life and has passed on, you NEVER give him his just rewards therefore this act will most likely haunt you for the rest of your life.
Sincerely
A former fan
