Today's Oprah Show topic was about hormonal problems related to menopause. Although not all doctors agree that it's safe to take Biodentical Hormones it sure looks like they are working for many women including Robin McGraw (Dr. Phil's Wife).
I can't help but notice how Robin McGraw, Suzanne Somers, and other women who have been taking the bioidentical hormones for years look much younger than their age. Robin McGraw is in her fifties and Suzanne Somer is in her sixties and they both look like their in their thirties!
Suzanne Somers will be appearing on the Oprah show on January 29, 2009 to talk about her personal experience with biodentical hormones. Suzanne Somers has been advicating biodentical hormones in her health books, "Ageless: The Naked Truth About Bioidentical Hormones" and "Breakthrough: Eight Steps to Wellness."I love Suzanne Somers and can't wait to see her on Oprah.
Oprah recommends the book "The Wisdom of Menopause: Creating Physical and Emotional Health and Healing During the Change" by Dr. Christiane Northrup to anyone going through menopause.

I am 43 years old. I am scheduled for a bi-lateral hysterectomy on March 12. Until Oprah's show on Jan. 22, 2009, I thought I had made the right choice. Now, I'm wondering if what I am experiencing is not just PMS, but Perimenapausal? Do I need a hysterectomy, or can I change my diet or do some sort of hormone therapy to make things better. I have been through countless blood, urine and fecal tests, as well as ever imaginable inside testing and could only conclude the year-long pain and sickness I have experienced can be made dealable rather than surgery. I have such a negative experience with surgery, that I have put off surgery for the last six months. Then, when I could no longer stand the pain, I opted for surgery. Is there any other solution, some one I could seek advice from who isn't in such a hurry for me to do surgery?

Iam a 59 year old woman who has not had a period for two years. I always thought my symptoms were to do with my fibro but after seeing your show with Robin McGraw and Dr. Northrop I am REALLY concerned that they are related to menopause. Is it possible. Can a woman my age benefit from bioidentical hormone replacement. I feel like I've lost the person I used to be.

Hi Ladies,
I am not an expert in bioidentical hormones but am also just learning about them myself. I would suggest that you read the book that Oprah recommends, "The Wisdom of Menopause" by Dr. Northrup and the book "Ageless" by Suzanne Somers to find out more information on the subject. Also find a doctor that offers bioidentical hormone prescriptions to their patients and is willing to work with you to find the right hormonal balance. They do offer bioidentical hormones online but they might not be as safe as the ones your doctor will prescribe.
Best of luck!

I am now 65 years old and in spite of my doctors
disagreement re: this issue am still taking a low
dose of hormones. I had a complete hysterectomy at the age of 27 because of an ovarian mass and I feel good. I feel that this med.has been beneficial for me. Many friends think I look younger than I am. I have had long discussions with a retired
general surgeon many times and know the risks
involved and still am taking Estrodial.

Hi, I am 49 yrs old, have every menopausal symptom there is. Hot flashes are one thing but I find I have no energy, no desire for sex, no real desire to do anything....I have NO patience for anything or anybody...I fell like I've been rode hard and put away wet everyday. I exercise and I'm exhausted, don't really feel I am living, just going along some slow road to death...I am crabby 90% of the time...so I am going to try the suggested combo of Estro 500 &PC 30...Hope it helps.

Hi
At the age of 32 I had to have a hysterectomy and was put on Premarin and took it for 28 years and at the age of 52 I had my change of life and had no more hot flashes. November 16, 2002 I had a heart attack caused by a blood clot, that my medication caused. I have 35% heart damage because of it. When first on the medication in 1973, I was told that it would prevent me of what happened to me and the year 2002 it was said that it causes what happened to me. My doctor took me of the medication cold turkey when I was admitted in the hospital. I have been having hot flashes every since I was taken off it. I don't want sex and I am wet from the hot flashes all the time, I have panic attacks and urinary tract infections all the time and the doctors don't know what to do about them. I am depressed and just want my old life back. I am on ten different medications , just because of that one pill I took. I can't afford to spend anything on myself because of the expense of all the medication I take, I just want to crawl in a corner and die. I am 67 now, but I could pass for 45 to 50 and I feel my life is just passing me by. When my husband is not around I feel sorry for myself and cry alot . I feel so sorry for him that I can't feel like he does about sex , but I can't. He understands , but I know it hurts him that I am the way I am. I hear all these women on the TV talk about this new hormone Bioidentical and hearing them say that it has changed their lives and wonder if it could change my life, or help me in some way. I want to live and be happy the way I used to be and not be sad all the time. I love my husband so much and I can't even please him. I hurt when he touches me and I have to have him stop and I know I need help and don't know where to turn. Maybe someone out there can email me and guide me to where I can turn. I know if something isn't done soon, I just might give up and live this way the rest of my life and I don't want to do that. The few years I do have left on this beautiful earth, I want them to be happy years for myself and my husband.
